Casino Night Fundraiser at The Secret Garden This Friday!
Hey fellow Phoenix Redditors. My g/f is helping put on a fundraiser for Big Brothers, Big Sisters this Friday and she is stressing that the attendance won't be that impressive, so I thought I'd put a shout out on this sub. I apologize if it's not appropriate. Anyway, it'a a Casino Night with drinks and appetizers, a DJ, gambling, and prizes. It's put on by the local YPC (Young Professionals Committee) and all of the money goes to BBBS. It's a really fun evening and while I know it's a little pricey, it's for a great cause. I'd love to be able to figure out a way to gift any Redditors that show up with an additional drink ticket or something. My friend's alumni association is having a casino night fundraiser in collaboration with another organization in Pilsen. The scholarship will benefit college-bound Latina/o students. And this year the bathroom issues have been fixed. Part 1 left off with my wife and me allowing my MIL, Jabba, to push her way into our nice fancy birthday dinner for my wife’s birthday. This was part our plan to try and make it through my wife’s birthday as drama free as possible. Then we were going NC with Jabba after my wife’s birthday, outside of my wife’s work matters. The plan included saying no to things Jabba wanted and trying to set boundaries. We expected Jabba to try and crash through the boundaries we set, and this would just be added to the list of disrespect that she showed our marriage when we went NC. The following day my wife sent me screen shots of a conversation she had with Jabba over text. Jabba: I tried calling you why didn’t you answer are you ok? My wife: I’m getting ready for work I’ll call you back in a minute is something wrong J: Nothing wrong just wanted to know if you were going to the casino night fundraiser for my friend with cancer W: No she is your friend and I don’t really know her so I figured I would relax plus husband and I donated to her gofundme J: You really should go though it would mean a lot to me W: Don’t’ you mean it would mean a lot to your friend with cancer J: Well it would mean a lot to her too but I really want us to spend some girl time together W: I said no I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night and just want to relax when I get home tonight (After a couple hours with no response) J: Great news I was able to still get you a ticket to the fundraiser and I told my friend you were coming she can’t wait to see you since she hasn’t seen you since your wedding. W: Mom I love spending time with you but I’m married and I love spending time with my husband too J: Great so you’re coming can you pick me up at 5:30 W: What I didn’t say I was going J: Well you said you loved spending time with me and I already got you a ticket and I told my friend you were coming W: Fine I’ll go but can you drive that way I can have a couple drinks J: Well I’m kinda low on gas so I was hoping you could drive W: Fine I’ll drive see you tonight J: Awesome can’t wait for amazing girl time My wife was surprised that Jabba didn’t just take the no and then go and complain about how I was keeping Jabba from seeing my wife as that is something Jabba had already told coworkers. Jabba does love trying to get pity from people. She constantly talks about how much she sacrifices for everyone else, how she works so hard, how her poor baby (a 58 year old man she adopted see part 1 for more info) has Down syndrome and tons of health issues, and how she tons of health issues too, that she won’t admit are the result of her being obese and chain smoking. Jabba also spent the night trying to get my wife to drink with her even though my wife was driving because my wife had said earlier that she wanted to drink. My wife also said the whole night was awkward since Jabba and Jabba’s friend with cancer were the only 2 people she knew.
